Frequently Asked Questions

  • Thermal shock is a science where warm and cold are used and applied directly to the skin. Subcutaneous fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cold than other surrounding tissue. Exposure to cooling causes fat cell apoptosis-a natural, controlled cell death, which leads to the release of cytokines and other inflammatory mediators that gradually eliminate the affected cells.

Inflammatory cells gradually digest the affected fat cells in the weeks after the procedure, reducing the thickness of the fat layer. A natural process from this procedure is the lipids from the fat cells are slowly released and transported by the lymphatic system to be processed and eliminated.

  • Other methods of fat removal primarily involve necrotic cell death by damaging fat with heat, high-intensity focused ultrasound or chemical injections. In contrast, procedures which use suction and cryolipolysis can also damage beneficial cells. T-shock induces apoptosis only in fat cells to gently and gradually reduce the fat layer, while preserving all other tissue.

  • Cellulite is the fat that is pushed towards the connective tissues under your skin. It makes your skin look lumpy and dimpled. It usually occurs on your buttocks and thighs, but is some cases, on other parts of your body too. It is the result of fat storage in the adipocytes (fat cells) in the body. As the adipocytes grow, the connective tissue that contains them (septa) pulls on the skin surface and deforms it. At the same time, circulation is blocked and toxins accumulate. That is when cellulite appears, creating the inevitable orange peel aspect.

  • Yes. The cellulite treatments are multidimensional and can produce a low level fat reduction, reduce edema, increase circulation and improve blood and fluid flow to the area. T-Shock stimulates the connective and fatty tissue to soften them and make them less fibrous. The thermal shock action delivered by the wand, shocks the cells to stimulate natural fat release and firm skin to give it back its tonality and a dimple-free aspect.

  • The intense cold improves collagen production leaving your skin firm and tight. The heat reinvigorates elastin. The alternating cold and warm, triggers deep layers of collagen and stimulates production.

  • Fat reduction: 5-10 treatments every 2 weeks until desired results are achieved.

Cellulite reduction: 5-10 every 1-2 weeks until desired results are achieved.

Skin rejuvenation: 5-10 treatments every 2-3 days until desired results are achieved.

  • No. Most clients feel that it is refreshing and relaxing.
